Traffic Unit responsibilities include:

• Combating aggressive driving.
• Traffic crash investigations involving traffic fatalities, serious bodily injury, and hit and run drivers.
• Selective traffic enforcement through the use of radar and laser speed measurement devices.
• Enforcement of school zone speed restrictions.
• Traffic safety education.
• Maintain a working relationship with various traffic safety organizations.
• Traffic analysis.
• Assisting with special events.
• Using S.M.A.R.T. trailers to promote awareness of reduced speed limits in school / construction zones, and to promote compliance with posted speed limits in traffic complaint areas.
• Supervision of the School Crossing Guard Program.
• Instructions regarding how to obtain a crash report.
• Assists Community Development with the Neighborhood Traffic Calming Program
