Code Requests are transitioning and now will be recorded within the Code Case Section of the Customer Self Service Portal (CSS). Community Enhancement and Code Compliance is a division within the Community Development Department. The division is responsible for the enforcement of City codes and ordinances to protect the community and maintain quality standards. Community Enhancement and Code Compliance division is also responsible for the issuance of Local Business Tax Receipts.
In addition, the division:
- Issues non-consent towing permits, and abandoned property registrations

Inspects and monitors commercial properties for compliance with sanitation, signage, landscaping, and other City codes

Investigates complaints and ensures compliance of violations by property owners

Presents cases to the Code Compliance Special Magistrate for disposition

Recently enacted legislation prohibits code enforcement officers from initiating a code enforcement investigation based upon an anonymous complaint. It also requires the individual making a complaint of a potential violation to provide his or her name and address to the local government body before an investigation occurs. If you would like to submit a complaint, please submit an email at Code@sunrisefl.gov or call the 24 hour hotline at 954-572-2344, but be sure to include your name, address, and a brief description of the complaint.

To report a code violation, please call the City's Community Enhancement and Code Compliance division at (954) 572-2344. All inquiries related to building permits, work without permits, and other issues regulated by The Florida Building Code should be directed to the Building Division at (954) 572-2354 or the City of Sunrise Building Division webpage.
Online Code Enforcement Inquiry
The public can view the Code Compliance Activity Status of any property in Sunrise via the City's online Code Compliance Inquiry System. If you require additional assistance, please call (954) 572-2344.
Code Compliance Zone Map
The City of Sunrise is divided into geographic zones. The zone map provides the name of the Code Compliance Officer assigned to each zone.
Code Compliance Special Magistrate
In accordance with Florida Statutes Chapter 162, enforcement cases in the City of Sunrise are heard before a Special Magistrate. Special Magistrate hearings are scheduled for the third Monday of each month at 1:00 p.m. at the Flamingo Park Meeting Hall, located at 12855 NW 8 Street, Sunrise, Florida 33326.
