The Crisis Negotiation Team is designed to successfully resolve high-risk situations, including preservation of life, apprehension of the perpetrator and protecting or recovering property. This Team consists of specially trained members who work closely with the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team to provide negotiation tactics and skills for barricaded subjects and hostage incidents.

Officers assigned to the Crisis Negotiation Unit have been highly trained and work closely with other local agencies. The members of the Crisis Negotiation Unit receive constant training in a multi-agency environment along with the Federal Bureau of Investigations Hostage Negotiation Team.
