Village Art Plaza Construction: Closure of NW 68th Avenue
Beginning January 30, 2023, a segment of NW 68th Avenue—south of Sunset Strip and north of NW 22nd Court—will be closed for approximately one year for the construction of the Village Art Plaza.
The Village Art Plaza project will connect the Village Multipurpose Center, City Park, Village Civic Center, and Library Square via an open space to be utilized for public events such as farmers markets and festivals, and to showcase public art. A unique, colorful paving treatment will be used to help define the area, and removable bollards will be installed to facilitate the closure of a portion of NW 68th Avenue during events. The Village Art Plaza project will also include drainage improvements, overhead utility relocations, landscaping upgrades, and lighting enhancements.
In order to maintain access to City Park and the Village Multipurpose Center during construction, traffic to the southern portion of NW 68th Avenue will be routed to/from Sunset Strip along NW 21st Court. Detour signs will be posted prior to and during the road closure.
