The City of Sunrise in partnership with the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) has a project planned along Nob Hill Road from Sunset Strip to NW 44th Street to provide a multi-purpose path.  This project was identified and recommended in the City of Sunrise 2014 Bicycle & Pedestrian Greenways & Trails Master Plan and Bundle F of the Broward MPO’s Complete Streets Master Plan, with an objective to provide connectivity between existing bicycle corridors on Sunset Strip and NW 44th Street and allow local residents to travel to various City parks, schools, and shopping plazas by bicycle and foot.

The plan includes replacing  the existing sidewalk along both sides of the corridor with a 10-foot-wide multi-purpose path that accommodates both pedestrians and bicyclists. The rendering above illustrates what the path may look like. The yellow line on the map at the bottom of the page shows its proposed location.

Additional scope items include, but are not limited to:

• installing detectable warning surfaces at all curb ramp locations,
• new striping with green lane markings and required signage,
• providing new crosswalk striping at intersections,
• reconfiguring existing curb ramps and turning lanes at road intersections, and
• providing new pedestrian lighting along the corridor.
