Acting Chief Daniel J. Ransone

Welcome to the Sunrise Police Department's website. Throughout this site I hope to provide you with some insight into the Police Department as an organization that is committed to excellence and superior service to the community.

The Sunrise Police Department consists of the Office of the Chief and four Divisions: Administrative Services Division, Criminal Investigations Division, Uniform Division and the Special Operations Division. As of June 2023, the department is comprised of a total of 323 professional employees; 219 sworn police officers and 104 civilian employees, who proudly serve the community of Sunrise. We have assembled a superior law enforcement team, whose loyalty, professionalism and dedication has been demonstrated by the commitment to surpass the level of excellence achieved in previous years.

It is our goal to remain passionate in each endeavor we undertake and to always remain compassionate to all those we serve. As we continue to enhance safety and security, our renewed focus of going above and beyond and investing in an environment of selfless service is key for the continued trust of our community. This commitment, both in the services we provide and the belief that people are our most valuable asset, has been at the core of our organization's success. It is our intention to gain additional insight into the expectations of our community as we strive to strengthen our foundation in policing and cultivating relationships with the community, City departments and outside agencies.

As we move forward, we strive to achieve reduction in crime and fear of crime in our community and we are eager to create innovative services and develop practices specific to the uniqueness of the City of Sunrise. We look forward to further exceeding expectations and continuing to echo that Sunrise is a wonderful place to live, work, play and raise your families.
