Theatre Rental Rate Schedule
- Base Rent includes a single day usage lasting no longer than 3 hours.
- Additional hourly rates apply if the usage exceeds 3 hours.
- All Rates include all required fees, including tax. (Lighting Tech, Sound Tech, House Manager, Taxes and $300 Security Deposit)

Sunrise Civic Center Theatre Facility Use Rules & Regulations
Failure to adhere to any of these Facility Use Rules and Regulations may result in forfeiture of deposit and/or ban of future rental.
- A House Manager is required for all rentals.
- Individuals or groups renting the facility may purchase food prepared by caterers, restaurants, concessionaires or other commercial food and/or non-alcoholic beverage providers and bring it onto the premises to be served only by members of the party renting the facility. Only light refreshments, as approved by the Director of Leisure Services or designee, may be served in the theatre lobby. All other approved food and beverages are restricted to the Rotunda. Catering, restaurants, concessionaires or commercial food and/or beverage providers of any sort are NOT permitted to advertise services, cook or serve food on the premises. Food and beverages are not permitted in the theatre and are only permissible in the lobby.
- The use of any heating element (open flames, sterno type or electric) is not allowed in the theatre building or lobby.
- Only serving tables (without chairs) are permissible anywhere in the facility and must be provided by the permittee.
- A Facility Attendant is required for a minimum of three hours at the prevailing rate when food and/or beverages are on the premises.
- The outdoor areas surrounding the theatre cannot be reserved for exclusive use by the Permittee. Set-up, breakdown and clean-up are the responsibility of the Permittee.
- Alcohol may be served only when contracted through the approved city catering company (as available). Permittee is responsible making arrangements directly with the city approved catering company.
- Smoking is not permitted in any area of the building.
- CHECK-IN day of event: Permittee must check–in with theatre staff upon arrival, to assure that the theatre is ready for use.
- If theatrical lighting and/or sound are requested, there will be a charge equal to the actual personnel costs to provide these services. The standard house light plot is included in the rental. If a specific light plot is desired, it must be presented to the Technical Director two weeks prior to the event or the standard house light plot will remain. Any additions or changes after that point may result in additional charges. Permittee is required to provide any required specialized gels or gobos.
- Under no circumstances, shall anyone other than City of Sunrise personnel, tamper with or manipulate any sound or lighting equipment.
- The following items are not allowed on stage without the written permission from the Technical Director: open flames, food/drink, painting, glitter/confetti, tape/pins, bubble machines, smoke/hazer effects. Approval must be made upon initial Technical Director consultation.
- To avoid confusion, the Permittee will provide one designee to communicate all logistics and technical requirements to city staff/theatre technicians.
- The Permittee is responsible to monitor the front door and regulate admissions into the theatre.
- Loading Dock area is off limits except during load in and load out periods of event.
- Permittee is responsible for the behavior of all parties and audience associated with event. Unsupervised parties or entering unauthorized areas may result in the forfeiture of deposit. Permittee ensures all posted signs are adhered to by those associated with event.
- Sales tax will be added to the rental fee, as applicable. Non-profit validation will be required from all organizations requesting a waiver of the 6% state sales tax.
- No person shall sell or offer for sale any tangible object, merchandise or thing for consideration within or outside of any recreation facility premises without the written permission of the Director of Leisure Services or designee.
- Leisure Services staff cannot sign for or be responsible for materials belonging to the Permittee.
- Vehicles must be unloaded from parking areas or the loading dock area only. Vehicles are not permitted under the Rotunda.
- At the end of the rental period, a representative from the Leisure Services Department will inspect indoor and outdoor facilities for cleanliness and damage to determine if part or all of the security deposit will be refunded. Security deposit refunds should be received within four weeks following rental.
- Time of rental shall include set-up, rehearsal, sound check, breakdown and clean –up. Security deposit will be forfeited if Permittee exceeds the reservation time.
- Permittee must supply all cables and connectors for hook-up into the house system. i.e., direct box, XLR cables and adaptors, S-VHS or BNC.
- Reservation deposits will be forfeited unless the Leisure Services Department is notified, in writing, of the cancellation at least two (2) weeks prior to the scheduled usage. All cancellations will be subject to a $10.00 service fee.
- MAY NOT EXCEED MAXIMUM CAPACITY. In accordance with Section 3101.5 of the South Florida Building Code, there are a maximum number of occupants allowed in each facility. The Permittee is responsible for assuring that the maximum occupancy is not exceeded. Failure to comply with maximum occupancy criteria will result in a forfeiture of all fees and deposits and may affect eligibility to rent facilities in the future. Permittee agrees to limit the attendance at the event to 296 people.
- The security deposit is due at the time of the reservation. The balance of all other fees due must be made three (3) weeks in advance of the rental date to avoid possible cancellation by the City of Sunrise. Cancellations of reservations must be made in writing two (2) weeks in advance of event. If the cancellation is made less than two (2) weeks from the event date the security deposit will be forfeited.
- The Permittee shall comply with all laws of the United States, the State of Florida, Broward County and the City of Sunrise and all rules and requirements of the City Police, Fire, Building and Zoning Departments, including but not limited to, all health, sanitary and safety requirements imposed by the City. Permittee shall provide on-site security, if required, as a special condition of approval by the Director of Leisure Services.
- Although every attempt is made to provide the facility and its related equipment in sound working order, the City cannot be held responsible for microphones, sound systems, air conditioning, ice machines or other equipment or building systems that fail to perform during the time of the rental. In the event that equipment failure renders the facility unusable or not available, the City will use its best efforts to notify the permit holder at least 24 hours in advance of the rental. If the facility is unusable or not available, the City shall not be responsible for any costs or damages incurred by the Permittee due to the unavailability of the facility.
