Hurricane Preparedness
Sunrise Fire Rescue's Emergency Management Division operates year-round. During hurricane season, this specialized team works closely with other agencies – including Broward County, the State of Florida, and the National Weather Service – to monitor storm activity and recommend action as necessary.

For preparedness tips and other helpful information, please view our Resources for Hurricane Season webpage.

Business Disaster Planning Program
The Sunrise Business Disaster Planning Program is designed to help businesses build an emergency management plan customized for their business type and size.  The program will cover continuity planning topics on how to minimize property damage, mitigate disruption of commerce, achieve timely return to normal operations and protect essential facilities, equipment and assets.

The program is free to all businesses within the City of Sunrise.  For more information about the program and class offerings, e-mail mascarrunz@sunrisefl.gov.

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.

Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.
