The Engineering Division reviews engineering plans including water, wastewater (sewer), stormwater (drainage), and paving and grading for projects located within the City of Sunrise corporate limits, and water and wastewater (sewer) for projects located outside the City of Sunrise corporate limits but within the City's utility service area. To determine if a project is located within the City of Sunrise's utility service area, please contact 954-746-3277. General Engineering Plan Requirements
All engineering plan submittals must follow the specifications listed below.
- 24" x 36" plan sheets
- Use the City Standard Title Block, per City Code of Ordinances Section 16-31(d). You must have Auto CAD to access or open this file
- Signed and sealed by a Professional Engineer Registered in the State of Florida
- Plans must adhere to Engineering Plans Checklist
Florida Department of Transportation and Broward County projects may be submitted with the corresponding agency's title block and on 11" x 17" plans.
Conceptual engineering plans must be submitted for all Development Review Committee (DRC) site plan applications. Three (3) sets of conceptual engineering plans shall be submitted with the initial site plan submittal. This should be an independent package prepared by a professional engineer and include the following:
- Conceptual water and sewer plan
- Conceptual drainage plan
- Preliminary flood routing and water quality calculations
For more specific information on the conceptual engineering plans, please refer to the City Code of Ordinances, Chapter 16, Section 16-31(16). The City Code of Ordinances is available online at municode.com.
The applicant may submit preliminary engineering plans anytime after the first scheduled Development Review Committee meeting occurs. Although this submittal is referred to as preliminary engineering plans, the submittal shall be 100-percent design plans. These plans must be in accordance with the City's Construction Standards and Specifications. Prior to submittal of the preliminary plans, contact the Plans Processing Technician, Kathy Crisci, at 954-746-3277 or kcrisci@sunrisefl.gov. The submittal shall consist of the following:

- Engineering Plans - Four (4) sets of signed and sealed plans in the order listed below, along with a letter describing the submittal.
- Cover Sheet
- Paving, Grading, and Drainage Plans
- Paving, Grading, and Drainage Details
- Water and Sewer Plan
- Water and Sewer Details*
- Lift Station Details*
- Offsite Improvements
- Stormwater Pollution Protection Plan
- Miscellaneous Sheets
*Unless the proposed Lift Station will be private, unaltered City of Sunrise standard Water and Sewer Details must be used. Call 954-746-3277 to obtain details.
- Drainage Calculations - 2 copies signed and sealed
- Lift Station Calculations - 2 copies signed and sealed. Lift station design shall be in accordance with the City's standards, unless the station will remain private. Calculations must include flow and head determinations, establishment of the pump curve indicating pumping efficiencies, model numbers and ratings of all pumps, and floatation analysis of wetwell.
- Response to comments received on the conceptual engineering plan review. Letter must include a response to all comments, listed in the same sequential order as previously provided comments. Please provide a detailed explanation for each comment, as the word "DONE" or one-word responses will not be adequate.
- Review fee per Fee Schedule [PDF]

Final Engineering Plans are submitted subsequent to preliminary engineering plans to address comments received during the preliminary engineering review phase.
Submittal Requirements for City of Sunrise Corporate Limits
- Engineering Plans - Applicant must submit a minimum of 11 sets of plans; when approved, the applicant will receive four sets of plans of which two are to be used for the Building Permit set and one to obtain Broward County Surface Water Management approval stamp for the City's Engineering drainage permit. If applicant requires additional sets of plans, please submit that number in addition to the 12 sets of plans.
- Response to comments received on the preliminary engineering plan review. Letter must include a response to all comments, listed in the same sequential order as provided on each sheet that contains comments. Please provide a detailed explanation for each comment, as the word "DONE" or one-word responses will not be adequate.
Submittal Requirements for City of Sunrise Utility Service Area
- Engineering Plans - Applicant must submit a minimum of 8 sets of plans; when approved, the applicant will receive 4 sets of plans. If applicant requires additional sets of plans, please submit that number in addition to the 8 sets of plans.
- Response to comments received on the preliminary engineering plan review. Letter must include a response to all comments, listed in the same sequential order as provided on each sheet that contains comments. Please provide a detailed explanation for each comment, as the word "DONE" or one-word responses will not be adequate.
Revised engineering plans must be submitted when modifications are proposed and final engineering plans have been approved.
