100% Electric Ride Service in the Business & Entertainment District
The City of Sunrise now offers a free on-demand transportation service that picks up and drops off riders anywhere within the Sunrise Business and Entertainment District. The Sunrise Freebee service features an earth-friendly fleet of 100% electric vehicles, including three Tesla Model X cars and a large electric van, operated by Freebee and offered free of charge to all riders by the City of Sunrise and partially funded by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).
Using the Service
To use this free shuttle service, you must install the Ride Freebee app onto your mobile device. Steps to using the service are:
- Download and install the app on your mobile device. The two options are Ride Freebee for Android devices in the Google Play app store or Ride Freebee for iOS/Apple devices in the Apple app store.
- Tap the “Request a Ride” button on the home screen of the Ride Freebee app and then set your pick-up location. These features work similarly to other popular ride-hailing apps.
- Enjoy the ride. Freebee drivers are professionally trained to make the experience safe and enjoyable. They can even offer helpful recommendations about Sunrise.

Service Area and Schedule
The Sunrise Freebee service is available within the Sunrise Business & Entertainment District pictured in the map area. Riders picked up in this area must also be dropped off at a destination in the service area. This includes the area of Sunrise that is West of Flamingo Road, East of the Sawgrass Expressway, South of Oakland Park Boulevard, and North of Interstate 595.

Service hours are Monday to Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m., Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m., and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Your Freebee driver is professionally trained to be a community ambassador for Sunrise. The driver can guide you, point out popular destinations, and share information about the area. Additionally, you can refer to the Ride Freebee app for news and upcoming events in Sunrise.
- Can I give a tip or gratuity for the service?
Drivers are compensated and the service is 100% free to users. You are permitted to tip, but it cannot be solicited by the driver and is not expected.
- Is Freebee safe for users of all ages and abilities?
Yes. Freebee caters to all ages and will always pick up and drop off in a safe location to allow riders of all ages and abilities time to transition without worrying about roadway traffic. We just ask that riders under the age of 18 be accompanied by an adult.
For younger riders, Freebee can provide booster seats as appropriate for children who exceed the size requirements to travel in a car seat. Smaller children and infants are required to be secured in a federally approved car seat, provided by their parent or guardian.
For riders who use a wheelchair, Freebee riders can optionally request an ADA-compliant and accessible vehicle from a setting in the app. If you do not have a smart phone, or would like to request additional accessibility accommodations, please call 855-918-3733.
