Overview: In July 2022, Sunrise residents celebrated the grand re-opening of SAC - enhanced thanks to voter support of Sunrise’s 2014 general obligation (GO) bond referendum, which funded improvements to recreation amenities in neighborhoods citywide. Here’s a recap of the extensive enhancements at SAC:
- The existing playground, full-size multipurpose fields, meeting hall, and restroom facilities were renovated, and the tennis courts were resurfaced.
- A new 15,000-square-foot multipurpose building was constructed, complete with an indoor gym and program space.
- Five new full-size covered outdoor basketball courts were built, as well as a basketball-style Bankshot course for players of all ages and abilities. (These outdoor courts are currently closed until further notice.)
- A new concession building with scorers’ tower was constructed.
- Other enhancements include sports lighting, connecting pathways, an additional batting cage, security features, and more parking along NW 44th Street.
