Emergency City Commission Meeting

ALL PROCEEDINGS WILL BE CONDUCTED BY COMMUNICATIONS MEDIA TECHNOLOGY PURSUANT TO EXECUTIVE ORDER 20-69

This meeting is being called to discuss Broward County Emergency Order 20-03 related to Shelter in Place: Safer at Home Policy and City emergency measures related to COVID-19, including  guidelines for meetings utilizing Communications Media Technology. 

An Emergency City Commission Meeting is necessary because COVID-19 is an immediate threat to the public health, safety and welfare of the City of Sunrise community and the President has declared a National Emergency.

If a person decides to appeal any decision made by the board, agency, or commission with respect to any matter considered at such meeting or hearing, he or she will need a record of the proceedings, and that, for such purpose, he or she may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is based F.S.S. 286.0105. The City does not tolerate discrimination in any of its programs, services or activities; and will not exclude participation in, deny the benefits of, or subject to discrimination anyone on the grounds of real or perceived race, color, national origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability/handicap, religion, family or income status.

In compliance with the ADA and F.S.S. 286.26, any individual with a disability requesting a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in a public meeting should contact the City’s ADA Coordinator at least 48 hours in advance of the scheduled meeting. A phone will be set up in the Sunrise Commission Chambers located at 10770 West Oakland Park Boulevard, Sunrise, FL 33351 for any interested person to utilize and attend the City Commission Meeting via phone.

Under the Governor’s Executive Order 20-69, if a public meeting, hearing, or workshop is to be conducted by means of communications media technology, or if attendance may be provided by such means, the notice shall so state. The notice for public meetings, hearings, and workshops utilizing communications media technology shall state how persons interested in attending may do so and shall name locations, if any, where communications media technology facilities will be available. Nothing in this paragraph shall be construed to diminish the right to inspect public records under chapter 119.
