ABOUT THE EXHIBIT

Join us on October 25, 2024, at 7 pm, as we welcome the talented husband-wife duo, Bro and Ching Yi (Carlos and Jean Aleman), to the City of Sunrise Art Gallery. In this captivating exhibition, the Alemans blend their unique artistic styles, creating a mesmerizing fusion of acrylic yarn and acrylic paint.

Inspired by the allure of the Goth subculture and the symbolism of the year of the dragon, the Alemans' work invites you to explore the darker realms of creativity. Jean's amigurumi creations, crafted with meticulous detail and a touch of whimsy, juxtapose the delicate nature of yarn with the haunting beauty of her designs. Carlos' paintings, rich in color and emotion, add depth and contrast to the exhibition, showcasing his mastery of the brush.

This opening reception promises to be a night of artistic discovery, where the boundaries between the macabre and the magnificent blur. Immerse yourself in the captivating atmosphere, and indulge in refreshments and music. Engage with the artists, fellow art enthusiasts, and members of the local community as they celebrate the year of the Dragon and the beauty of goth.

Don't miss this opportunity to witness the Alemans' artistry and be part of a memorable evening that blends art, culture, and community. Join us on October 25, 2024, at 7 pm, for an unforgettable experience at the City of Sunrise Art Gallery.

Ching Yi
Ching Yi (Jean Ku Aleman) is a talented crochet artist whose passion for the craft was ignited by her grandmother, who crocheted items for commercial sale. Initially focused on creating hats and sweaters, Ching Yi's artistic journey took an exciting turn when she discovered the captivating Japanese art of amigurumi – the intricate process of crocheting small, stuffed yarn creatures.

However, it was the world of dolls that truly captured Ching Yi's imagination, and she has since dedicated her skills to crafting exquisite crocheted dolls that are not only visually stunning but also imbued with a sense of whimsy and personality.

Alongside her artistic pursuits, Ching Yi is a dedicated educator who has made a significant impact on the lives of countless students. After earning her Master's degree in English from New York University, she embarked on a rewarding career in the Broward County school system, where she has been inspiring young minds for over 25 years.

Ching Yi's unique blend of creativity and academic excellence has enabled her to share her love for both the arts and education, leaving an indelible mark on the communities she has served.
