Sunrise BioBlitz BINGO

Join the City of Sunrise – and parks throughout the country in a fun challenge to see how many pollinator species can be documented this September! It is easy to participate by joining an event or making observations on your own, using the iNaturalist app. With the iNaturalist app, you simply snap a photo and upload, and the online community will help identify the species.

On Saturday, September 9, the Sunrise Good and Green Team will host a BioBlitz BINGO scavenger hunt activity at Sawgrass Sanctuary (237 N New River Cir., Sunrise) between 10:00 am to 1:00 pm:

  • Get help using iNaturalist
  • Go on a Naturalist-led nature walk with special guest Dr. Corey Callaghan, UF Department of Wildlife Ecology and Conservation
  • Enjoy a nature talk from Youth Environmental Alliance (YEA)
  • Create an eco-craft
  • Play our BioBlitz BINGO and take home a prize (while supplies last)

It is recommended that you download the iNaturalist app before the event so you are ready to start documenting pollinators. The BINGO scavenger hunt activity takes at least 30 minutes to complete. Pick up a BINGO card at Pavilion #1 from the Good and Green table.

If you have questions about this event, call 954-888-6043 or email sustainability@sunrisefl.gov.

Don’t forget to bring:

  • Hat
  • Water/Refillable Water Bottle
  • Comfortable Shoes
  • Sunscreen
  • Smart Phone (at least one person in your group)

Parks and recreation agencies from across the country will be hosting Parks For Pollinators BioBlitz events throughout the month. You can learn more about the Parks for Pollinators initiative and see which agencies are participating by visiting nrpa.org/bioblitz.
