Public Meeting: Recreational Trails Program Grants
The Recreational Trails Program is directed and monitored in our state by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. It utilizes federal funds to renovate, develop, or maintain recreational motorized, non-motorized and mixed-use trails and trailside facilities on public lands.
A recreational trail is defined as a thoroughfare or track across land or water, used for recreational purposes such as walking, bicycling, day hiking, equestrian activities, jogging, or similar fitness activities, trail biking, overnight and long-distance backpacking, roller skating, in-line skating, running, aquatic or water activity, and vehicular travel by motorcycle, four-wheel drive, all-terrain off- road vehicles, or dune buggies.
At tonight's meeting, City of Sunrise staff will present and discuss the planned Oscar Wind Park Expansion Project, as well as the Flamingo Park Improvement Project, as they relate to the Recreational Trails Program grant application process. Public participation is welcome.
