The City's relaunched Anime Film and Japanese Culture Festival
is set for Saturday, June 10, from noon to 7:00 p.m. at the Sunrise Civic Center (10610 West Oakland Park Boulevard). Attend our free Festival and enjoy:
- Two family-friendly animated movies, the Studio Ghibli classics “My Neighbor Totoro” and “Ponyo;”
- demonstrations of origami, calligraphy art, bonsai, and more;
- a cosplay contest organized by Nintendo fandom legends the 3000 Brigade; and
- the Art Gallery opening of “Anime-Japan,” featuring the vivid and playful artwork of Carlos Aleman, a Sunrise-based writer, painter, illustrator, and digital designer.
Consider staying for our event’s grand finale – a Yoshiko Taiko Dojo
taiko drumming performance at 7:00 p.m. in the Civic Center Theatre. Reserved seating tickets are $18 for adults and $10 for children.
