James McLaughlin hails from Wallingford, Connecticut where he grew up enjoying the great outdoors, marveling in the awe of one of the most picturesque season changes in the United States. At an early age he discovered the joy of expression through oil painting. Gleaning inspiration from the dynamic contrast of season changes, he began painting colorful landscapes at an early age. Soon afterward, James’ skill brought great success within local banks where he earned just enough money in painting sales to pay for a fine arts degree at the University of Bridgeport in 1973. After teaching art in the public school system for several years and establishing “The Valley School for the Contemporary Arts” in Shelton, CT, James decided to make Florida his new home and relocated to South Florida in 1977. This move paved the way for a new path and fresh approach to painting. James’ love for the game of golf is most recently the source of inspiration for his latest series of paintings centering around The Seven Bridges of Sunrise.
